Today was a perfect day. I know that I have been known to over-exaggerate, but seriously, today was perfect! Our family drove near and far to visit everyone we love.
Not everyone was with us in body today, but their love was felt.
Oh, how their love was felt.
Our first stop was LaMonte. We went to visit Phyllis and Eldon. We started to try to explain to Landon who we were going to see...maybe we will try again next year. :) It was nice to be there. I found myself emotional while standing in front of Grandpa Eldon's grave. I only know stories of him and I only know a few, but I let him know today that he is the strongest man I never knew.
Then, we went to Warrensburg to see Marshall and Valerie. We had a nice lunch and then went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Simmons. We all miss Grandma and Grandpa so much. Scott still gets a child-like glow every time he tells stories of them. It was a beautiful afternoon.
Our next stop was unexpected. Well, unexpected for me...Scott said he was going to make the stop all along. See, I wasn't going to go visit my dad today. Even four years later, it's still too hard. I have been once and I didn't like the feeling. It didn't feel like my daddy was there. Scott thought we should go. I decided that he was right.
When I called my grandparents, they were already there. It was a sign.
I am so thankful for all of the stops we made today. And although I am incredibly sad for the people that are here in spirit only, I was reminded of all of the love we have here and now.
We have a special family. Special Love.
The rest of our weekend was just as amazing. We packed it full of fun and I loved every minute of all of the "family time". My husband may have a slightly different attitude about the extreme togetherness! ha!
First stop...Science City!
A little bit of shopping...
Lots of "cooking" too!
Plenty of "healthy" snacks!
And we topped it off with a dip in the (freezing) pool!
Happy Memorial Day.
