When the Cruces lived in Drexel (where’s Drexel, you may ask yourself … well, I don’t really know … I’ve been there once, but don’t ask me how to get back). Anyway, when the Cruces lived in Drexel, their next door neighbor was a great family, the Curnuttes: Dean, Sandy and Eric. Eric’s Grandpa (Sandy’s Dad), was a world-famous fisherman by the name of Virgil Ward.
So when Landon asked Scott, “Daddy, I want to go fishing”, Scott knew just who to call. Scott, you see, isn’t exactly Mr. Outdoors. But Dean and Eric Curnutte are. And it just so happens that the Curnutte's now live on 100-or-so-acres out in the country. They have their own stocked fishing pond. Perfect!
The minute we arrived, Landon was ready to cast his reel… until he saw the worms.
“No way, not touching them.” Landon said.
It took a village to catch Lan-Man’s first fish…
And a lot of waiting…
“Fishing is kind-of boring.” Landon said.
But good fish come to those who wait and Landon and Eric finally caught his first one!
“I am the best fish catcher in the world!” Landon said.
We tried to act like we weren’t city slickers, but Landon kept giving us away!
“nooooo way…not touching it…it’s really gross” Landon said.
Sigh…maybe next year. :)
The highlight of the trip to the farm for my boys was Dean’s golf cart. Everyone of all ages hopped on and enjoyed that bad-boy! Kellen grinned ear-to-ear every time he got on.
And while the boys continued to try to catch a whopper…
The babies kept themselves busy with more important things…
To end the night, Landon and Eric caught one more fish! Landon sure has the exaggerating part of fishing down. Later on in the week he asked if I remembered the “ HUUUGE” fish he caught (holding his hands out to represent a 3 foot fish). Silly boy!
I want to thank Dean, Sandy and Eric for an incredible experience. They were amazing hosts and we had a great time.
Landon said it was his best day. And we bought it.
Hook, Line and Sinker.
