It feels totally surreal to be writing this post. I seriously can not believe that you, my baby, are turning 2 years old in ten hours. TEN HOURS.
It feels like just yesterday we were here...
Two years ago today, our life was forever changed. I struggle to find words that can explain what you have brought to our lives.
You are truly perfect for us.
We knew it immediately.
Kellen, I want to let you know of a few things that make you truly, incredibly, uniquely, you...you at 2!
You, my dear, are the sweetest child in the world.
You are a Wild Thang
Your smile is infectious. Everyone can't help but smile when they are around you.
Kellen, you have as much heart as you have hair on your back (and that's saying a lot!!) :)
Although you have few words, you have mastered getting exactly what you want. All it takes is a little slap on my face glance at mommy or daddy and it's yours. If a glance doesn't work, then you've mastered the ol' grab-Mommy-or-Daddy-or-Nana's-hand-and-physically-take-them-to-what-you-want move. I have realized that your words will come in time, and until then, google or webmd or Yahoo are useless. Because all you need is love, baby. And Momma has that totally under control.
You are still obsessed with binkies. You are at your happiest with one in your mouth and one in each hand. And three above you in your bed. You know that Daddy hides the binkies in his pocket and Mommy hides them, well, in her bra. It's made for some rather uncomfortable moments for Mommy in public while you reach down her shirt to get a binky.
You think your brother hung the moon. We trick you in to doing whatever we want by asking Landon to do it first. You would follow him to the end of the Earth. There is nothing that makes Mommy and Daddy happier than to watch you idolize Landon. Big brother loves it too.
You throw fits. But they are "smart fits". You see, you get pissed and s-l-o-w-l-y move yourself down to the ground. Too smart to hurt yourself on the hardwoods!
You LOVE planes, trains and automobiles (the toys, not the movie). But most of all, you love TRUCKS! Chuck trucks. Matchbox trucks, police trucks, fire trucks. Trucks, trucks, trucks. You are most at home and at peace pushing a truck back and forth around the edge of Landon's bed. I'm so going to miss watching that.
You hit sometimes.
You pinch sometimes too.
You are a terrible sharer.
You will grunt to get your way.
You will flop and go limp and it is next to impossible to get you dressed sometimes
Sometimes, we say you're bad to the bone...
But, damn, we love your spirit. And we wouldn't have you any other way!
Thank you for being you, Kellen Jones Cruce. Thank you for making our hearts so full. And thank you for keeping us on our toes...life would be a snooze without you!
With Love,
Mommy and Daddy
~below this post is a short little video that we think perfectly sums-up our sweet, ornery two year old. I couldn't figure out how to get the video on this post so, you have to scroll down...sorry!~
