We needed to get our house painted this summer, but before we did that, we needed to replace a few rotten boards on our deck (it was painted, not treated, lumber ... and some of the boards were in bad shape). Well, Scott conned Marshall into helping him one Saturday for a quick little fixer-upper ... or so they thought.
As Marshall and Scott started pulling boards off, they found that it wasn't just a couple boards that needed replaced. It was every. single. board. All of them were rotten. All of them.
After discovering that we had a pristine patio under the old deck, Scott and Marshall revamped the whole plan. Rather than just re-doing the new deck just like the old one, Scott and Marshall (more Marshall than Scott, truthfully) built us a deck and patio combo.
The new deck is amazing and having a patio is awesome. It totally opens up our back yard. It's great to drink my coffee on the steps or our new patio furniture. Scott and Marshall (with a big assist from Landon and Kellen) did a great job!

Landon and Kellen had a blast. Landon helped every single day with the deck. He would sit outside (and sweat) for hours at a time just to help Grandpa. I was almost sad when the deck was finished. I knew that Landon would miss the "Man Time". :)
