Thursday night, around 5 o'clock, I decided that we were going to participate in the neighborhood garage sale...Friday morning! I knew it was going to be a lot of work in a (very) short amount of time, but in true Cruce form we had fun with it! :)
Scott was a good sport about the snap decision. I shouldn't be surprised. Getting rid of junk and making a few bucks is a perfect scenario for my husband!
I went down to the basement on a mission.
I was going to go through all of the boys "baby stuff" and sell most of it.
I was going to keep everything sentimental and sell the other 5,279 things that I have saved in the basement.
I didn't need the stuff. The boys didn't need the stuff.
I took 3 trashbags downstairs to fill with toys and clothes to sell.
And, I kid you not, I came up the stairs (an hour later) with this..
I'll do it next year. I swear.
The next morning, Landon was super excited to help with the sale. He was so excited when he saw the garage and he jumped right in and wanted to help. Not only was Lan-Man a great helper, but he was also our first customer. Ha! That little baby went inside and came out with a handful of pennies. He handed them to Daddy and went and got a ship that my mom had brought over to sell. He said he loved it and he wanted to keep it forever. The ship that Landon wanted was my dads. It was in our Houseboat for 15 years. I looked at it the night before, many times and every time I looked at that silly, old, dirty, ugly, ship I thought of my dad. Without saying a word to Landon about what it meant to me, he loved it too.
We accepted Landon's low-ball offer of 19 cents.
Yep, we'll be keeping that ugly ship. thankyouverymuch.
Scott helped a ton too.
Cause nothing says "We've got a ton of great shit to sell" like a ripped up, cardboard, duck-taped sign.:)
The sale was a success!
I think Kellen's huge smile kept the people shopping!
At one point, when our garage was filled with people, Landon said, "Wow, business is really booming!". He is so darn funny!
