Today, we decided that it was too nice to stay inside. And after a short, what should we do today? brainstorming session (during which, "build a cotton candy machine", "go to the beach", and "truck" were quickly vetoed.) we decided we would have a picnic in the forest and after lunch we would go on a Bear Hunt!!!. We thought it would be a great adventure and I knew that Happy Rock Park had a beautiful trail and surely had a place to eat in the "forest' and great places to look for bears ;).
After just a short hike on the trail we stumbled upon this...
Jackpot, Baby!
We had such a fun lunch. It was peaceful and quiet and we truly felt like we were hidden in the forest. Landon got such a kick out of our "secret spot".
And then, little Kellen in his sweet, subtle way let me know it was time for me to stop taking pictures and to let him eat his lunch in peace...
After our feast it was time for the much anticipated Bear Hunt!
well, we looked for bears...
and we looked for bears...

so much of this sweet helping from Landon was done today. My heart seriously skipped a beat every time his hand would reach out to help his little brother finish the hunt. |
and we looked for bears...
and we looked for bears...
Until we found a...
(wait for it)
(wait for it)
(wait for it)
SNAKE!!!!!!
And then we got the heck outta the forest!
It was a great day, but I must agree with Landon."We should definitely bring daddy along on Bear Hunts. Just in case we need him."Couldn't agree more, buddy. Couldn't agree more. :)
